Those that say to buy your second trailer first have owned atleast 2 trailers. Me included. There is a learning curve to RVing. I was also a first time buyer/tower and started out with a 23 footer. I have upgraded to a 30 footer. Now, I am of the bigger is not necessarily better school of thought but when it comes to an RV you will appreciate a little bit of elbow room for everyone. Towing is not the biggest concern here. That's the easy part in my opinion. As others have said, are you and the family going to like camping after the first season? Are you at all handy? There is a lot of maintenance that will cost you a bundle if you can't do some of it yourself. RVing can be a wonderful family experience, as long all are on board with it. It can be a big financial blunder if the wife and kids turn out to hate it. The thing with kids is they may not know they will like it till they try it, the wife on the other hand.......... good luck and have fun. Get the floor plan that best suits your needs.
I am fairly handy, I am a master mechanic in real life, so maintenance , cleaning and repair wont be much of an issue. Im thinking I should rent now and be sure wifey is on board, shebhas never camped before. Then again, we would only go to places like Jellystone, Disney & things like that til the kiddo grows up
