You will find payload to be more important than the tow rating figure.
Payload # needs to accomadate all passengers and driver, any gear in the truck cab/bed, a heavy hitch and components and approximatly 13% of the total weight of the trailer as tonge weight.
Example
Family of 4= 500#
Some gear in the box= 150#
WD hitch= 100#
13% of a 6000# tt=780#
Total 1530#
This might not reflect your specific situation but it demonstrates how the payload is met long before the tow figure.
