New guy, not sure which tow vehicle to choose

The dodge seems to tow more plus more torque and hp, but ford has a bigger pay load. Not sure what's more important or if payload matters that much.

IMHO, an excellent source for this information is the Towing Guide published by Trailer Life despite the obvious Ford sponsorship. Of particular interest is the section titled "Choose Wisely". This explains the numbers and gives an example of pairing a TT with a TV. Just click on the picture for the year you would like to see - its in PDF format.
