New to RVing..

Comparing a 2007 Four Winds 5000 29R & 2007 Four Winds 5000 28A, both units have low miles (3700 / 11200) on them. The 28A is Ford platform vs 29R Chevy platform. Can I go wrong with either one, or is it just a personal preference? The Chevy has 2 slide-outs vs none in the Ford.

  • Thanks for all the input, we ended up going with the 28A, upon inspection on the 29R mold was found on the top bunk above the cab, not just a couple spots either, 1 foot by 4 foot under the upper bed into the wood. Walked away from that without another thought.
  • Personally, I would go with the bigger one with the slideouts.
  • can you get both worked on locally? when I had a chevy motorhome no local chevy dealers would work on it and I had to go to a shade tree mechanic. but I would usually prefer the one with slides myself.

  • I would choose the one with the slides. You will appreciate the extra room it gives you when set up.
  • For comfort and reliability I would pick the one on the Chevy Chassis.
