A lot of people have little regard for anyone else but themsleves. Regardless of the reason they may install these bright lights which really can be anoying to others. They are either ignorant of the impact it might have on others or don't care - or both. When I first started camping about 40 years ago it seemed like everyone was helpful and friendly. No one really cared about how bling the other guys RV was. Maybe I am getting older but it seems in recent years RVing has turned into more of a show, having pimped out golf carts, LED lights, etc and care nothing if it annoys anyone else.
I agree. As a kid we actually camped. I have a quiet generator with absolute minimum run time. When I need a 6 hour top charge I do it on the road, not in a park. As you say, people often times only care about themselves. I dont find it real difficult to stop and think about how things affect other people. Just as lights may be annoying, some people are annoying as they cant discus things and find a better way without getting snotty. But that's how many people are now days. Well, that and they are behind a computer screen. I think the better way is along the lines of using peppermint oil or other tricks for this problem. That approach seems cheap and easy. I have used a shot gun at times for some critters but it may not go over good while camping. :)
