Ok to move TV? On/off mount frequently

Do you move 1 tv back and forth from inside to outside, or have 2 tv's?

I'm wondering about wear and tear on the tv mount if it's hooked on, taken off, etc frequently.

Also, if you have a dedicated indoor and a dedicated outdoor tv, which is bigger?

I think I'd want the bigger one outside because that's where I hope to spend most of my time.. But the place to hold a tv in my camper looks like it'll take a 36 or so to fill out the spot.

In 8 years of RVing, I have never, even once, used a TV outside.
  • yep, have put quick connects on all my TV's. Very easy, got tired of screwing the old ones on. Some of the space was very limited.
  • I will just add a tip for those of us who have to put the TV away when we break camp.

I got this tip when I brought one of my flat screen TV's in because of reception the TV Repair man said this about us RV'ers! :C

My reception ended up being caused by loose wires in the cable going into the TV within the connector. Now with digital even just the slightest break in connection nets no channels.

He said he sees this a lot in TV's that are used by RV'ers. Because we are always breaking camp and plugging in and unplugging our TV's 100 times more than a residential TV. Twisting and turning that coax connector on and off. Causing more stress on the cable itself and the connector.

His tip was real simple, he gave me a quick connect for the coaxial cable.

He also suggested that after a year of constantly coiling up that coax to store it every time we break camp that replacing the coax periodically would improve reception too.
  • We carry a seperate 32" TV for outside use during football season!
  • I leave all 5 of mine in place. And they all ride there when traveling.

    Outside compartment 26" LCD
    Front up high 20" LCD
Across from couch 46" LED 3D Smart
    Bathroom 9" CRT
    Bedroom 24" LED Smart

Also have a 22.5" LCD PC monitor(kitchen Table) that sometimes is used for streaming. :)

I usually bring my bedroom TV outside since it is easy to get to...

I'm not a big fan of watching TV outside under the patio as it usually draws a crowd standing out on the path watching along with you haha...

What we do is bring along a Two port TV splitter and hook it up at the pedestal cable connection then run two Rg cables back to the trailer with one going to the cable connection and the other one throwed under the trailer. Then it is easy to us to use with the TV from the bedroom when we want to...

I'm usually setup close to the storage bay so if we have to leave the trailer left unattended or a rain storm comes up quickly we can just throw the TV into the storage area and lock up...

  • I have one TV and it stays inside all the time. My neighbors in the CG might not want to listen to what I'm watching.
  • I have a mount that is made for quick removal. The mount will get a lot more of a work out driving down the road than lifting it out and placing on a different mount. Shouldn't be problem at all. JMHO
