"JWeaverCMA".....The Oregon coast has a fair amount of campgrounds. Your best bet is to strategically pick a few that will allow you to site see as a day trip from the campground. There are two places I can think of right off hand that you might enjoy.
At Golds Beach, there is a place called Jerry's Jet Boat Ride. It a large 50 passenger jet boat that takes you inland on the Rogue River. They have a lunch run and dinner run. The lunch run takes you several miles up the river, with narration about the area and a lot of high speed turns and spins in the jet boat (kids will love it). They drop you off at your choice of a couple of riverside restaurants for launch, pick you up an hour later and take you back.
The dinner run goes about twice as far and does the same thing. The price is fairly reasonable with the inclusion of a meal and the fun you'll have. If you decide to do this, find a campsite in the area and book your trip the day before either in person, online or phone.
Another nice spot is Coos Bay. There is a large Casino there with a really nice campground. Not a lot of big trees (fairly new campground) but really nice and clean sites. There are several things in the area to see, like the thousands of male sea lions who stay near buy. The casino can provide a reasonably priced buffet for the family.
