Passport Elite 23RB or Cougar 22RBS

Hello All,

We are looking at our first purchase and have narrowed it down to one of these two models. It is just the two of us mainly for weekends until retirement so about 5 years or so. Obviously these model are almost identical but has anyone had and experience with either product line?

Thanks!

Dave

Where are you planning to buy your camper? A Maryland dealer close to you?

We spent the day a Leo's and at Chesaco RV. Also some time at Camping world in Hanover. none of the dealers were particularly good or bad. We are up in Harford county so we can go anywhere. Being local, where did you buy? 5 years sounds like a long time till retirement when you hear all the folks on here and their long trips!

I'm terrible at quoting to notify. Sorry.

We bought ours at Leo's last year. They are about 50 minutes south of us.

We bought a 2018 class C thor Chateau. It is just the 2 of us too. And like you guys, we are weekend campers for about 5 more years too.

Hubby and I are waving at you guys. Welcome to the camping world.

That sounds like a great idea to me.

  • It is a great idea to hang out in both trailers for part of an afternoon and see how they feel.
  • Both are good campers. If splitting hairs, consider the location of the television in both. How uncomfortable is it when sitting at the dinetter or in bed? Both campers look uncomfortable to me.

If splitting hairs, I'd pick the Cougar (putting the television aside)... why?

Simple "male" anatomy. The "Royal porcelain throne" has more "leg spread room" for the "male" anatomy than the Passport does. Sit on both "Royal porcelain thrones" and you'll see what I'm referring to immediately .. (If you are a male).

    Both are manufactured by Keystone.
  • Can you get by the cougar dinette with the slide in? It looks like a big table. Does the Passport have an awning? Cougar is heavier, maybe good, but can you tow it loaded. I like the counter space in the Passport with the stools, but where is the stove. Both need ovens perhaps. King Bed might be nice too. My vote is Cougar.
  • Did you search for these two manufacturers or models in this Forum for previous posts?
  • From a quick observation I see that they both offer a couch or a dinette.
With the Elite you can sit at the counter for a meal, basically giving you both a couch and a place to eat. Makes a big difference on a cooped in rainy weekend.

Best advice I can give you is kick out the salesman and "live" in both for an hour or so.
  • Both look nice. Good holding tank capacity, fair amount of fresh water. The Passport has a sofa while the Cougar has a booth? If so decide on that. I prefer the sofa.
