The 10" rough in toilet will probably fit a 9 3/4 hole. As a plumber, I once installed a 12" toilet on a 11 1/4 rough. Manufacturers usually allow some clearance behind the tank and lid. Don't forget, there's a lid. Even if tank touches wall, lid will still sit on tank. And if the flange is similar to residential work, you can cheat the bolts forward a little. There are rough in measurements and toilet clearance measurements online somewhere, lol. I remember looking them up when I had my problem. Also, different manufacturers have different numbers regarding tank to wall clearance. You're only talking about 1/4"? No problem, any toilet should fit, as long as it's a 10" .
