Planning for an RV - side yard parking

First check home owners association and zoning if applicable.
Second I'd consider backing to the rear corner of the lot. More out of sight and less yard maintenance.

I have a 31' fiver and long bed dual cab truck. I also have the same real estate set up. Advantage with the present driveway for extra space. Disadvantage backing over your right shoulder. I've found the electric camper mirror to be the greatest aid in this case. I had to prop up my power line, it was about 6" to low. I used a PVC pipe, with a tee cut open on the long side to cradle the wires. I put the bottom of the pipe over a rod drove in the ground and strapped the pipe to the gutter to stabilize it.

Once my trailer is in position I have 3" on each side with the slides open. I put 4 markers on the ground, 2 front and 2 rear on each side, This is my guide when spotting the trailer. I can usually put it on target quicker than finding a level spot in a campground.

It looks to me like you will have to back up on the blind side which I was never good at.
We have ours on a limestone gravel bed. Cheaper and more forgiving if you have to make changes.

I would widen the gate before I took the tree down, looks like the tree gives you a little privacy from the road. If you widen the gate you can watch the front corner of your roof (house) and you'll know if you just clear that your good on the other side.

I have a very tight squeeze while backing my fifth wheel beside my house between the garage and fence and then it widens up. I know if I get close to the roof corner without hitting I'm more than good on the other side.

When you return from camping don't let anyone rush you while your backing! Have someone get out to make sure some idiot doesn't try to squeeze by. Take your time and you will be fine. At least you know that know one will be parked across the street from your house.... I live at the end of a court and need all of it to get backed in to my driveway. I never know what to expect when I come home, usually not a problem.

Have an electrician set you up just like at a campsite, probably just do 50 amp to cover anything. I agree make it level at least where the back wheels are. Good Luck

I have a similar situation where the TT is 3 foot from the S&B. I put the tire on the edge of my concrete and use it as a guide. I also have a tree where you show one so don't take the tree out too soon but try it first. You should have no problem making it fit.

The posts may be a problem if you try to swing too soon for the tail swing of the TT. Something to watch for but not a deal killer.

Wondering about how easily a novice (with a little practice) could back up a trailer or fifth wheel into the above side yard.

Could be a pro that has one of those days when you can't back for nothing. Could be a novice getting lucky.

Start collecting your alum cans and set up a course using your measurements at someplace where you have lots of room to practice.

To me, it looks like you will have to start your turn while backing up fairly soon. Doing so will end up putting your truck front end coming up across the curb next to that tree on the right. That will be the way you would probably have to do it to clear the posts and not put the end of the trailer in those bushes or that wall. You will definitely want a spotter, especially on the right near the posts and that wall. You won't be able to see that area with the way your trailer and truck will be pivoting. You're talking 50'+ in length combined. I would put this in the intermediate range with some practice. Have you considered a motorhome? If you like 30' range, you could easily stay in that range on up to 35' or so. It will be much easier to put it in there, plus, more than likely you will have the additional camera. But I would still use a spotter if you can. We have a 31-32' Class C now. It's a lot easier than the F250 supercrew and 35' (total length) TT we had. I was decent at parking it, but the motorhome is so, so much easier.

From experience: Don't plan on this RV, plan on the next one. What if the MH has front access, will you be able to open the door...I can't. Thus, I am limited to a mid-entry RV. If your pouring concrete, think of tire location for various sizes, and try to wave (raise) the concrete under the tires to make a level pad. Put a dump station in the plans. In LA this is not allowed, but a sewer clean out access is allowed...go figure. If you can widen the driveway access, do so...if zoning prohibits this, we had steel sheeting made to allow driving up the curb. I call the kids when I want to move the rig to help, but it is better than going over the curb. As for backing into the spot...practice makes perfect. I personally could not do it, I just know my limits. My wife used to back the MH onto the highschool football field thru gates just inches wider than the rig for all the football games to support the snack bar. My fireman friend would not even hesitate to back a trailer into the envisioned spot on your post. Me, not so much. As for the traffic, get some cones and make sure you have family or friends available to stop traffic while you slip into your spot. Good luck to you, and Happy Trails.

I like your cougar floor plan. I've seen it listed everywhere from 25 to 30 feet long. I haven't quite figured out how trailers are measured. I guess the sellers don't know either. ;)

Are the dinette and sofa comfortable for sleeping? What is the interior ceiling height?

Okay great! That sounds encouraging. My father-in-law said he used to pull into the driveway across the street and then back straight in. I would not have that luxury with a divided street.

Tree removed...straight shot back thru 11' gate

Tree stays.....still room for slight angle backing in then pull forward to straighten out then back it thru gate

before attempting..go to empty parking lot set up cones/boxes mimicking your parking area with gate and practice

You can park your RV at home in CA??? :B
