Portable ice maker

Love them. Ours sits our side on a folding table or on top of the outside refer. Makes plenty of ice to keep the cooler full. Remember it is not a freezer. The ice is soft so to be really useful it needs to be hardened in a freezer for a day or so to be really useful.

gave ours away as it just didn't make enough ice and wasn't hard. Just buy a good cooler and buy ice!

had several and leved them all and they have all lasted longer than the cost.
We know have an Igloo, 99 dollars at smes/walmart and it worked perfectly for the last for the 7 months we were at the river.
It also sets outside by the door to the MH on a table. Keeps a cooler full and we did not buy ice all summer. We use a lot of ice.

We got it for camping, and put it outside on a table. You can find them on sale for about $100.

It produces ice surprisingly fast, but like the others have said, the ice it makes is not very hard and melts fast, but it does work. The darn thing pulls a lot of power when it is the cooling cycle, so I usually run a separate line back to the power post. We set ours up if we are going to be at a campsite for more than a couple of days or we are having a lot of visitors - otherwise an ice chest is less trouble.

If you get one, don't turn it over or on it's side during transport - it will damage the unit. When it is not on, the refrigerant is liquid and it will run down into the cooling tubes and stop them up. Check your instruction manual regarding this.

Love ours, had it for about 2 years now. It will keep our ice chest full. As mentioned it is wet ice, not frozen solid.

Portable are great. I have not purchased Ice at a CG in 5 years. I fill cooler when I leave home and can have ice my entire trip. Ice maker will keep me in ice just for the weekend or for a month long stay.

I always thought having a portable ice maker would great for us off-road campers. I have to run back to town to find ice all the time. Of Course I get to pick up some good steaks so it isn't all that bad...

I'm not sure how long it takes to make ice and we would have to run the generator I guess for several hours to make it work for us...

Probably just as good to go into town every couple of days and fill the ice again...

In the 100+ degree temps we camp in they are worthless outside. Bring it into the trailer and I can't say enough good things about it. I have a Magic Chef that I was going to get rid of until I tried it indoors. Now I wouldn't part with it. Camp in cooler temps and it works fine outdoors as well. We keep our sodas and beer in an ice chest so we don't have to keep opening the refrig. The ice maker keeps up with a large ice chest without much of a problem. Just have to remember to dump the full basket so it can make some more.

Generally I always use mine indoors. The unit is much more efficient when used indoors.

we used on here in the house for years. our ice maker in the house frig didn't work so I bought one and had it on the kitchen counter. worked for us, I would use plastic bags and fill them up and store them until we needed ice. Had the years guy come over and work on the frig and found out the ice maker was frozen over and that is why it didn't work. we do take it camping with us now and use it a lot. saves buying ice for the coolers.
