Personally, I would go with the trailer over the motorhome. You won't have to worry about car seat storage - they just stay where they are. There won't be any temptation to want to get up while you're driving.
In addition, you'll have the tow vehicle to get around in during the day and not have to pack up their stuff to go to the store, etc. And every time you set up camp, they'll be all excited to go inside their trailer again.
