What do those identification markings on propane cylinders mean

    12 yrs vs 10 yrs.....DOT proposed/published new 10 yr.
It was later 'modified' due to Propane Industry push back

Currently the initial recert requirement is 12 yr after date of mfg....OR 10 yr after date of mfg.
Both are being recognized....so IF you run into a place that states 10 yr. that is what they are using due to the 12/10 ruling by DOT

    Talk about government snafu :B

I got a 5 year cert a few weeks ago. They did an inspection that was basically just a visual and a quick leak check. They put a sticker on the tank. I was told the longer cert required the tank to be pressure tested and they had to send it away for that. It was quire a bit more expensive also. I think they re-stamp the tank rather than use a sticker but I am not certain about that.

    Thanks...
Closest propane place to me usually always has new help. Not sure if the help has been trained right. The place has told a few whoppers over time. Latest being re-cert is expired.

    Thanks again
