Guys, thanks for all the helpful replies.
I have looked at the trailer and did a quick inspection, but nothing thorough. Mostly, I inspected the walls, ceilings and floor for any obvious water problems. THIS IS MY MAJOR CONCERN. I am hoping I don't miss any water damage signs when I look it over. I know what it can look like and I can do a walk through and feel around for soft spots etc. I am not a pro at this stuff, just trying to use common sense.
My negotiated price is based on no major problems with the trailer. If I do the inspection and there are problems with it I will request an adjustment.
I asked (here) if they will show me the FULL functionality of the trailer, because I didn't want to ask for something that is beyond their ability or seems excessive.
For instance, I didn't want to ask that they hook up the trailer complete with electric and water and turn on all the systems if it's not something they CAN DO or if it's an excessive request out of the norm. BUT if they don't do that, how else would I know if the water heater works, the ac works, the pop outs function properly etc.
I also assume buyers frequently get up on ladders and personally inspect the roof as best they can.
I guess it all comes down to my need to be thorough vs my concern that I am going to sound like a pain in the arse buyer...LOL
The X day warranty sounds like a great option to request as it makes the buyer feel comfortable with unknown problems. I just don't know if it's out of the ordinary to request. I guess every dealer is different and I will just have to ask them and hope they include it without an extra charge.
I don't plan on adding any type of extended warranty or any other add on service. The trailer will sit in a campground, so as long as I maintain it, I am mostly concerned with damage from fallen tree limbs etc. I assume an insurance plan will help with those matters. Something I need to look in to.
