Puzzle this

Not sure what the best board is to post this so will try here - Mods - please move if necessary.

We are just starting our full time adventure

I love putting together jigsaw puzzles. I currently have a nice table that folds down not only self storing legs but fold in half. I am using "PUZZ" board but it is not big enough for a 1000 piece puzzle (short by an inch in each direction). I am looking for something else to use.

I have seen the felt ones that you roll up for around $20.00 but think I could make one on my own for less using heavy felt and a "fanoodle".

I have also thought about using the rubber shelf liner that everyone uses but purchasing some that is wider - say 36" somewhere - and then wrapping it around the same fanoodle.

What do you folks use out there on the road. Space is very valuable so the smaller I can go for storage would be best.

Thanks to all of you who take the time to answer!:)
  • Ours is cardboard and it folds and has to cardboard trays in it. It has pieces of foam to cover the pieces when you fold it up. There is more then enough room for 1000 piece puzzle but when the puzzle is together you can't fold it up. We don't use it in the TT because I am puzzled enough just people watching.
  • At times I've fashioned a table cloth out of a heavy duty shower curtain liner, cover the table and eat right on top of the puzzle.
  • My husband changed to the 500 piece puzzles when I found a tray large enough to hold one. The tray fits on one of the bunks when a puzzle is being worked on.
Before that he was going to make one out of plywood. If you do make one be sure that it will fit thru doors with an unfinished puzzle on.
  • Tried the puzzle thing when we were on the road.......just wasn't enough room to set out/do/put away...without moving pieces etc.

Space is limited when FTng. So we donate our puzzles.

Hope you find a method that works for you.
For us..became too much of a hassle...........besides we had new adventures to pursue.
  • Make a larger board with good quality plywood that you can store under the Mattres and you use it for the puzzles, you can even make one bigger yust in case.
