We have a local place that sells repossessed RV and got a great 8 year old 5th Wheel for $5K. Now it did need a lot of work but hubby is really handy. We invested another 2K and it is now like new with new. It was for my brother to live in. We have a Class C
There are things that you must look at. Make sure it's tight with no water spots. Leaks can be ugly
You need space, I would suggest something with a slide at least in the living area, kids need some room.
Don't get a side bed as they are almost impossible to make in the mornings.
Can your toddler sleep above the cab or will you have to make up the couch every day. Personally our couch in our C is hard as a rock.
It should have lots of storage as you will initially take way more than you need and as you travel you will buy more and be reluctant to get rid of what you brought.
Also, having a tow is probably a good idea so you can park. So don't eliminate a 5th Wheel as I understand they are easy to tow
