The copper in any wire will carry as much current as is possible until it melts the insulation !
Rule of thumb is that 30A needs AT LEAST a 10 gauge cord, BUT that depends on the length of the cord and if you really are pulling 30 amps ! If you are really trying pull that much current for 100', I would recommend 8 gauge.
