It is overwhelming at first, and I got a book or two that didn't really help me much, even though I am a person who likes to learn from books. The problem is that so much info out there won't apply to your specific rig, but it is hard to sort out what does apply.
And often parts of the demo info from a past owner may go right over your head because even if mechanically-inclined, you can't relate 100% yet to what he is saying and it's a lot to absorb. (So make notes - some people even make a video walk through).
I found it handy starting out to create a "cheat sheet" of basics about my RV. Model year. How long it is, how wide, how tall. Tank capacities. ( Get an old brochure, online if you don't already have it.) The VIN number, insurance info, even the license tag #, etc. Then I read through the owners manual and jotted notes. Then the fog cleared quickly as we used the elements one by one.
Other owners of similar models are a great resource, and we met wonderful folks at owners' rallies.
