We travel from Sac Ca to Florence Oregon with the temp over 100 a big part of the way in July with the ref OFF and ice cream is still hard and the beer is cold. Takes about 10 hours with all our stops. No real reason that I leave it off other than I use no propane while it is off. Other times I might travel with it on. Your choice either way whether on or off, makes no difference to the
