Restorations

Hi, I'm new to RVing and I bought a 1982 Komfort Lite 19 recently. It's in decent shape and I've been sprucing her up a bit with new rubberized body armor up front, sanding priming and painting the frame up front and adding a two tank propane system. Welded on a new flip up jack. I flipped the axles for clearance. I have to put on new edge mouldings (extrusions) all around on both sides yet. I'm also working inside. I've removed several layers of flooring (outdoor carpet, plywood, vinyl floor, plywood)to get down to the original plywood of the camper. I'm now rolling in a thick rubber floor "paint" to seal it up nicely and insulate a bit and adding a cove base to neaten things. Next I'll be priming and painting the walls, ceiling and cabinets.
I was on the top of the camper today and the roll on rubber roof coating is cracked and peeling in numerous areas. My question is this: What is the best way to remove the old rubber coating so that I can reseal the roof? Any help offered and any ideas for restoration are welcome! Thank you!

Matt

  • Oh, I have thought about a tank cover, but with where they sit and the shape of the trailer, a cover won't fit. I may go for a couple slip on covers for the tanks though. As far as the floors, I am thinking about a snapdown carpet the can be removed and cleaned and fits the odd shape of the floor. Or just some simple throw rugs may work too. Thanks again!
  • I will add some pics as I progress. The floors are close to finished, but I haven't had a chance to get some shots yet. Thanks for the comments! I kinda dig her as well :-)
  • Very cool TT! Can't give you advice on the roof - just thought I'd comment on your cool vintage TT. It looks like it gets lots of light inside. The rubber floor coating is an excellent idea. What is going down on top of that? Have you thought about getting one of thase covers for the propane cylinders? Now that you know how to post pictures, how about some of the inside?
