- LantleyNomadThere is really no guarantee exhaust fumes won't enter RV unless you use a Genturi to direct fumes above the roof of the RV.
- valhalla360NavigatorMake sure you CO detector is working and keep the exhaust away from points where it could get inside but otherwise, it's fine.
Battery/inverter systems won't run the air/con the whole night.
We camp to have fun and enjoy life not prove how tough we are. - Iraqvet05Explorer

I hear ya! We had large, enclosed generators in Iraq that ran 24/7 except for the times they were shut down for maintenance (oil changes and repairs). I had one 25' outside my room (concrete walls but single pane windows) and it drove me crazy for a bit but I got used to it. The crappy Turkish generator we first had was so loud, I couldn't hear some of the mortar attacks we were subject to...someone would come beat on my door and check in or I'd see the windows rattle. - RV_CONUSExplorerAin't Freedom Great!:B
- jnharleyExplorerIf we would need to run the generator all night we would stay in a campground instead.

We ran our Onan generator all night for airconditioning many times. Carbon Monoxide detector is in good working. We kept the windows closed.
The generator box is fully enclosed and sealed in the front storage compartment of our 5th wheel. It's located beneath our bedroom. The exhaust exited from under the 5th wheel to the curbside.
Never had an alert from the detector.

Same here. - RoyBExplorer IIHere on the East side of the US seems like all of the PUBLIC non-electric camp grounds we go to have generator run time restrictions in place. Most are just a couple of hours in the mornings and maybe three hours in the early evening. Have never found a public place letting you run one all night.
Even the Natl Forest areas around here have generator run time restrictions in place. Some are just now allowing running them from 8AM to 8PM but never all night...
Out West you can find DISPERSED type camping in alot of places where you can do almost anything you want to do. Not many DISPERSED type camping places available here on the East side of the US...
Of course private places like NASCAR and many back country private land fishing streams is open game for running generators anytime you want.
I went with the larger battery bank and Inverter idea for our OFF-ROAD Camping... This doesn't include Air Conditioning or high wattage Microwave units however.. Heavy tree cover with fans and running creeks works great for us...
Be sure to check your places where you are planing to be camping to see what generator hours are allowed.
Roy Ken - RV_CONUSExplorerRecently completed 5 day trip WA to AZ. Took the slow route!,,,which is the route no matter where we go.
Hot nights, Gen runs all night, nice cool and comfortable.
For 8+ years traveling, the Gen gets used when needed, lots of all night use. Great invention when it can be used in appropriate locations. - Big_KatunaExplorer IIWe tailgate UF football. Everyone runs their genset 24 hrs all weekend.
Stacks are required. Test your CO detectors.
