Running Out of Time - Need An RV For Full-Time Living....

Hi friends,

My fiancee & I have been staying with at my moms place for a couple years & it's time to leave soon. We are running out of time because we only have until February of 2018 to be out!

We don't want to get stuck in the rat race of getting an apartment & having to pay $1,000 - $1,200/month! It would be MUCH CHEAPER to buy an RV & only have to pay $300 - $500/month for RV Parks LOT RENT. Our budget to spend on a used RV will be between $2,000 - $6,000 & to spend $300 - $500/month on lot rent. Given our situation that we're in, this leads me to the main question:

For the $2,000 - $6,000 range, which brand/manufacturer is typically the BEST QUALITY & which brands/manufacturers should we stay away from? I already have "Jayco" scratched off of the list since they are cheaply made.

What are your experiences & what would you recommend given my fiance & I's situation & the budget we're currently on? Would appreciate some folks with experience. Thanks!

    $2000-$6000, don't expect much. at that price make and model doesn't mean much,, it is all care taken in the past.

    OK for starters,
    Do you have a tow vehicle?
    Jayco has been the best selling brand in many years, quality is average to maybe slightly above by most comments I have seen.
    At $6000 you are looking at a 6-20 year old TT, look at each manufacturers website, try to verify the "low end" models in each and avoid them. Once you are looking at mid grades, they are mostly pretty similar at that age. They all used the same appliances and methods.
    Key is avoid water damage, Verify operation in all modes of all appliances, and try to find one that appears to have had gentle use. There are some good ones, but make sure your Truck can tow it before offering anything.
    For what its worth, you may find some more motivated sellers in the fall, after camping season.

    Yeah, but there are videos floating around about specific RV's that are junk because they are quickly thrown together with careless labor. Jayco was one of the brands to stay away from. Are you saying that ALL brands are EXACTLY the same for this price range???

    1. Too only spend 2-6K on an RV is possible ONLY if you are mechanically able to do 90% of all the work needed to maintain and repair your RV. Any RV in that price range will probably 15 yrs. old which could mean alot of repairs to make your RV road worthy.
    2. Too only spend $300 to $500 per month for an RV site MEANS you will limit yourself to boon docking and or real remote rv parks and you will need a generator. Look at RV parks in the areas you think you might travel to and then use the Good Sam RV parks app. so you can get a reality check on RV Park monthly costs. I am not sure I would want to stay in an RV park that only $300 to $500!
    I admire your dream but it is not based on reality.
