My fiancee & I have been staying with at my moms place for a couple years & it's time to leave soon. We are running out of time because we only have until February of 2018 to be out!
We don't want to get stuck in the rat race of getting an apartment & having to pay $1,000 - $1,200/month! It would be MUCH CHEAPER to buy an RV & only have to pay $300 - $500/month for RV Parks LOT RENT. Our budget to spend on a used RV will be between $2,000 - $6,000 & to spend $300 - $500/month on lot rent. Given our situation that we're in, this leads me to the main question:
For the $2,000 - $6,000 range, which brand/manufacturer is typically the BEST QUALITY & which brands/manufacturers should we stay away from? I already have "Jayco" scratched off of the list since they are cheaply made.
What are your experiences & what would you recommend given my fiance & I's situation & the budget we're currently on? Would appreciate some folks with experience. Thanks!
Wow - this thread certainly took a turn.
Ace, I think what you're asking for is an austere life of paucity that most of us try very hard to avoid. I've been a proud rat in that rat race for those reasons: to have a hefty mortgage, to afford insurance, car payments and to feed a 401K so I can exit the race as gracefully as possible.
I'm not sure we're best equipped to give you the advice you need.
I have a Jayco, for what it's worth. ;)
What I think you hear us saying is that for a $2-6K budget, how the RV was maintained is 100x more important that the manufacturer. So, don't get wound up on the make and model - look into how well the RV was cared for.
I wish you luck on your adventure.
