I like the "homesteading", "downsizing", living a "minumalized" life-style that is sweeping the nation. A lot of t.v. shows, hyping the desire to live with little money...off the land....working daily for yourself instead of the MAN.
Debt free is an admiralable desire that can be obtained with hard work and thrifty spending.
RVing is not part of that life-style.
RVing for most people is an optional,luxury....a HOBBY. Not a cheap hobby, but a preference to travel WITH their own home, instead of visiting hotel rooms.
OP....forgive us if it sounds as if you are trying to live on the cheap, while asking people who spend more on a pick-up to haul the camper, then most people spend on rent. Don't even get me started on the Class A guys/gals, towing your yearly budget BEHIND their motor home.
RVing is not cheap living....living cheaply in a camper is NOT RVing.
Your opening comments about Mommy's house and cheap living set you up for "put the game controller down" comments. It may be unfair to "pick" on someone living in mom's basement...it is a reality for many youth today, that the "greatest" generation (20 years and out with a pention) have trouble understanding. Even I, a tad younger than a baby-boomer (with a 24yr old living in my spare bedroom), have the "get off your @$$ and work" attitude. Because hard work still pays....even if the MAN gets paid MORE.
HOWEVER, you have an unrealistic, maybe mis-informed, opinion of the RVing community. You may be better served to spend your time on the "minumalist" web-sites.
OH, and loose the attitude. You may not like the truth (reality) but it is the truth. You have unrealistic expectations.
