hi everyone - hope all living or have loved ones in tornado alley are safe and sound. new to rving and see that there are just a few 55 and over parks in southern california. wondering if there is a web site that lists them nationwide.

I guess I am on the wrong side of 55+ campgrounds. I am definitely on the + side of 55 and I like seeing and watching younger people with their children. Yes, at times teenagers get a bit loud, but I just smile and ignore them. Maybe even a little smile remembering years past.The bottom line is I would never stay at a 55+ campground.YMMV

Although you will probably never drive that far but virtually every RV Resort in Florida in the wintertime is `over 65!'

I do not know about a national directory and would like to know, if there is one.In the Sacramento area, I can recommend the Mark J RV Park on Madison Ave. just one block off of I-80.It started out as a senior mobil home park many, many years ago and has gradually switched over to RVs. It's probably 2/3 or 3/4 RVs now. It's a very clean park, landscaped, quiet (provided you're not right up front by the six lane Madison Ave.) with 50 amp pedestals. So if you have a 30 amp rig you'll need the adaptor.The Mgr. is a nice guy and so are the other guests...just very friendly. The spaces are wide. While the rig sits on a rock bed and sits between the asphalt driveway on the back side and a large concrete slab patio on the front side makes it very easy to back in to. You also have the wide streets that mobil home parks of years ago used to have. This place is very well maintained and quiet.

Did a search and can only come up with separate state listings. The Bluffs at Danforth Bay in Freedom, NH is an over 55 park. Haven't been to it but the "regular" campground counterpart is top notch.

That picture sure brought back faded memories. That was a few of us in Lake City, Colorado. I'm not sure if we were playing hard or resting hard but I do know that we'd rode half way across this country. We do that quite often.

I'm a young.....very young 64 yrs. old but I'll take the 55+ RV park any time. I play hard and when it's time to lay it down....I want to rest hard! :)

I'm a young.....very young 64 yrs. old but I'll take the 55+ RV park any time. I play hard and when it's time to lay it down....I want to rest hard! :)

Are there campgrounds that are 55 and under only?

Why would anyone want such a place, you ask? I'll tell you. My spouse and I are teachers. She teaches middle school and I teach high school. We spend more time with them than their parents and usually know more about them than their parents. When I'm off camping on a long weekend, break or summer vacation I don't want to be around them. Teachers need breaks from kids, of any age. Before you judge anyones reasons maybe you should stick to an answer or just lurk.

To OP:

The advanced search function in RV Park Reviews might help narrow down your options a little.

Click on Campground Search in the top banner:

Enter the city name or state you are interested in, making sure only City Name or Region Name is checked in the Search Fields. Then, in the section titled "Filter Results By Amenities", use the pull-down arrow beside "Family Friendly" to enter "NO".

Of course, RV Park Reviews is not a comprehensive listing of all the facilities available, but a lot of forum members use it to select their destinations.

BTW, from what I've read, most parks advertised as 55+ cater their amenities to their long-term 55+ lessees/lot owners, mainly retirees/snowbirds, and there are tax implications in some states (i.e.no school taxes payable if at least 80% of occupants are over 55).
