^ Not being argumentative, but having lived through this scenario multiple times, your legal residence state doesn’t know about vehicles you have registered in other states.
Nor do the states I’ve done this in care if you have an in-state Driver’s license.
In fact, I had, and still do, a valid AZ license. They’re good for 30 years or something and I didn’t have to surrender it because I moved back to a state I lived in previously and got a new drivers license there by mail, lol.
I had that AZ license in 3 states and re-titled and registered my vehicles without a corresponding DL for that state.
Title and registration typically cares about proof of residency and THEY want your money, so simple proof of residency, utility bill , tax bill, school tuition or registration, rental receipt will establish your residency with that state.
Example. Tax home in WA, moved to AK, new title and AK tags no problem. Showed them my lease for the house.
WI 2nd home. Vehicle never even been to my residence state, show a utility bill, got WI title and regs.
Other states it’s worked in WA, CO, NM and AZ.
