Cheap & easy: when cutting firewood I cut a fork out, each branch ~4" diameter, slapped on a coat of old paint I had in the barn (in case someone steals it I'll know who it was) & screwed on a cheap 97c Walmart handle. Works like a charm. If I wake up some day and find it gone I'm only out the cost of the handle. I've got more tree branch forks in the wood pile than I could ever use in a lifetime of camping even if I use a new one each trip.
