Sewer kit etc

Pitched the kit except for the TP and gloves. Got a 5% discount on anything in the store - got a longer good quality coax cable - our short one was crappy.

We have always used a Rhinoflex hose, and we've never had problems. However, it would not fit in the new MH without leaving the dumping station door open - the top extended too far to make the angle through the hole in the bottom of the compartment. So, we just bought a Valterra Viper. Amazing hose - you can step on it and it just springs back. Much better fit and stows easily.

X2 on the water pressure regulator and surge protector.

Happy camping - we're off to a state park for the weekend.

Never received such a kit. On our TT we did receive about $100 in gift cards for the store to buy our own. With the motorhome we just bought from the same dealer (3 times the cost), we got a gift basket. Had a table cloth, potato bag chip clip, ice cube maker thing, emergency blanket i think and a couple of other little things.

I do have a "kit" that Monaco gave my in laws when they bought their RV years ago. It's a cheap hoes with water regulator, toilet paper and a couple other little things. I keep it in a box in one of the storage bays for "just in case".

not mentioned is IMHO one of the more important extra items you should buy/have/carry. a multi-function surge protector. runs about $250 for 30 amp $350? for 50 amp. NOT a $99 cheapy.

I got a starter kit from my dealer and most of what was in the box was just fine. It all came off the shelf of the dealer's accessory shop. It is free and if there is something in there that you want a better one of, donate the free one and buy a better one. No one is forcing you to use it.

Yes, the dealer will give you a POS kit. Immediately replace everything in it. Get a REAL water pressure regulator (I have the Watts 263A), a 25' white water hose, a pigtail 15a adapter, and a RhinoFlex brand stinky slinky.

It seems the better deal I got on a rig, the less I got as a starter kit. If they offer me a kit I am going to think I should renegotiate the deal.

I'd ask for a credit at rv parts counter and get some decent Kit... My shop credited my $150 towards stuff... not bad seeing I had everything I needed.

Personally, I'd ask for something more useful like a discount at their parts store or something like that. Most of the stuff they give you is of the lowest quality sold. Hose had one fitting and had a hole the second time I used it. Guess riding in a tote in the frt storage was too tough for it. 25' hose they gave me kinks badly and is only useful for an emergency extension to a good hose or as a second hose off a "V" at the spigot. Buy a good rhino flex or like heavy duty hose and a nice 50' water hose and be happy you have the space back hauling the cheap stuff would have taken.

IMHO you're better off buying higher-quality components on your own.

Fact: there is no such thing as "free." Never was. Never will be.

The dealers who do that do not take cash out of their own pocket to provide that starter kit. They charge you for it, and personally, I'd prefer to buy my own. No such kit was even mentioned when we bought our rig. Consequently I went out and bought my own pieces in the quality level _I_ wanted and at the price _I_ could get them.

So, it's a dealer option, not standard at all.

And yes, the little $15 water pressure regulator is crap. Don't fall for one. Spring for the $70 high quality one. You'll be glad you did. And when you use it, put it on the spigot BEFORE your water hose. I made the mistake of putting it on the trailer AFTER the hose, once, and the pressure was so high it caused the hose to rupture.
