Young female solo full-timer here, been on the road since September 2012.
I love it. I'd never been camping in a RV before I bought mine and I am not mechanically inclined. I learned what I needed to as I went and I still occasionally get stumped - the internet is your friend!
Common sense is your best safety tool. I've yet to stay overnight in a place where I felt unsafe, have never had a conversation with someone who made me feel like my safety was in question. If you pull into a place and get a feeling like things are off, just drive on to the next spot.
Other than that, enjoy! It's a wonderful life.
