What bothers me more is seeing all of the RV's at a dealer lot that have the slide out and the RV is not level, or even stabilized with jacks out/down.

It's a personal choice. We leave ours in when not in use. Our Motorhome had 2 slides. When they were in, the camper was still completely usable. Our current Destination Trailer is not very usable with all 4 slides in. The bunkhouse is completely inaccessible with both slides closed. There is just enough room to get to the slide controls. We leave the trailer on site all year round, but will close the slides when we leave at the end of the season. Even if it were parked at the house, we'd probably leave them closed when not in use.

That's our choice, others choose differently. There is no right or wrong.

We do not. They would only be out if we had to get to the bedroom closet or for cleaning maybe. I don't think most people leave them out unless they are using the RV.

I worked on a 5ver with the slide left out in a RV park that had water intrusion. The entire end cap wood and slide out floor and wall had to be rebuilt. Some damage was due to neglect and some due to the seals not making a good seal with the slide left out. Both of my BOL's have new 5vers, both are fighting water leaks on high end Montana's. Both rigs are 9 months old. A neighbor has a 2 year old rig with a rotten slide floor from leaving his slide out over the summer when not in use. My thought is why take a chance with when it is so easy to bring them in. Wouldn't think of leaving my four slides out on our MH when not in use.

Our slide is only out when camping, prepping, or cleaning.

I leave mine out for the same reason the dealers leave theirs out. so I can walk around inside it and clam my cabin fever

Here's the thing...

The slide is built to handle the weather, no harm done if it's left out.
Who cares, why does it bother you, why bring it up?

We close ours unless we need access to it.

Likely not a huge issue but why not press the button and have it close.

Mine slides are closed after every trip and for the entire winter.

I stored mine slides in for the most part.. But I also used part of it daily or nearly daily while it was in storage.. So the MAIN SLIDE out made it much easier (I did not sleep in it)

Many, as others have said.. .Guest house in fact the very first time I slept in an rv. It was a "Guest House".
