We were camping in Bryce Canyon and I noticed a couple a few campsites away continually adding charcoal lighter and sticks and leaves to get their campfire started. I think they use the whole can of charcoal lighter. After about 15 or 20 minutes in which they were completely frustrated that they could not get their campfire started I decide to walk over and give them a little help.
It was not a campfire they wanted started but a charcoal grill. They had never used charcoal before and they thought it burn like sticks and wood. I explained how charcoal worked and told them the charcoal would be a ready in about ½ an hour just wait until it turned white.
