Small trailer or van camper

We are long-time tent campers who switched to a truck camper several years back. Age is getting us thinking that we should make a switch in campers. We will be traveling about 15K to 18k per year visiting children in Portland, OR and Peoria, IL along with regular National Park visits. Is a used Roadtrek our better option or should we look for a travel trailer in the 17' range. What are the pros and cons of each (I realize cost is high for a used Roadtrek)?

    We are currently using a 2000 GMC Sierra (half ton) with our truck camper. Big V8, added leaf springs when we got the truck camper even though empty the camper only weighs 700 pounds. Truck runs very well and has towing set-up.

    can't recommend the travel trailer, without knowing what you have to tow with.
    Roadtreks are great if you don't mind cramped quarters inside and prefer a minimal package.
