Snowbird recommendations for Florida rv camps

Hi, I read mostly all the information regarding this topic. However, I'm still on the fence about going down to Florida for two months (Feb & Mar) to be stuck and freezing the whole time. I just came back from a 10,000 mile trip around the US and loved it. I went alone with my dog, Dolly and my finch, Bird. Met so many kind and friendly people.
What I would like in an rv resort/campground is a place where I can have a place within walking distance to dine or to have a drink. And a close proximity to the beach would be necessary. I know the further south you go, the warmer it will be. I've been thinking of Carrabella's on the Gulf side and North Beach Camp near St Augustine. I like both but the North Beach Camp has restaurants nearby where I can walk. I don't plan on towing my car as I made out just as well without it on my trip. Someday, I'd like to because I can see the freedom you have to get up and go.
I have a 2008 Coachmen Freedom Express which I bought last November for my 60th birthday. It had 15,000 miles on it. It is 24 feet long but is just the right size for me.
Any suggestions would be very much appreciated. Thanks! Connie
  • If you have lots of money try Periwinkle Trailer Park on Sanibel Island. You can walk all over but take or rent a bicycle to get farther into the island. It will be difficult to get a reservation so try as soon as you decide where/when to go.
