I'm single, just take your time getting there. After some practice its not that hard to back up. Usually I get out and walk around before hitting the reverse gear so I can see what is behind me.
I use a back up camera on the frame of the license plate, I have not had much luck with the tennis ball method as prescribed above if the magnet cannot sit squarely on the hitch, the balls wont meet.
As far as navigation, it helps to know where you are going first, without a navigator map reading and finding points of interest can be distracting.
