You must live in the only place in the U.S.A. that has no zoning ordinances, land use regulations, and all the other restrictions ordinarily applied to most private property.

Activities on private property are the target of nearly ALL such regulations, at least in my experience.

You can park and sleep in all Florida rest areas, for up to three hours. Overnight camping is not permitted. That is technically correct, but conversations here indicate that security and LEO's are "relaxing' that rule a little. They do not want to put a tired driver back on the road. The tired driver is as dangerous as the drunk one.

3 Walmarts in 15 mile radius forbid overnight parking. I have even seen police at RVs/TTs/5ers in the Gettysburg Walmart several times over the last several years presumably asking them to leave.

I would rather park at a casino than at a rest area. Quite a few have free parking areas and provide sewer/dump somewhere. Just do a google search for "casino's in Indiana" or "casino's in Illinois". I use them along the I-5 corridor in WA, OR and CA ...

Cracker Barrel and Wal-Mart are good, too. Just gotta ask inside if it's okay to park over night. Most will say yes. Some will say that there is a city ordinance against it but the store will not turn you away so you can stay but if the police ask you to leave, you gotta leave. I have never been asked to leave.

The experts come through! Thanks to all, I probably would have done the exact opposite.

Overnight stop we never unhook from truck.....unless site is too unlevel to be reasonably comfortable. Don't want to roll out of bed or have blood pool in my head while sleeping :B
Plus rig needs that reasonably level condition for RV fridge to operate properly while stationary to avoid permanent accumulative damage to fridge cooling unit
