Just fill and drain a few times. It's easier at a camp site with sewer hookup than at a dump station with a line of campers behind you. When I dump at our camp site, I normally fill it with water and dump it. I rinse and repeat 2 or 3 times depending on what the water coming out of the tank. Use a clear adapter as mentioned and wait for the water to run clean.
I don't usually use tank deodorizers, but I do every so often just for the heck of it. Before leaving the camp site, I usually put a few gallons in the black tank to scrub things clean on the ride home. My tank sensors work for all three tanks, always have.
