Regarding the use of deodorizers.
The waste tanks are sealed except for the roof vents and if there is odor that doesn't come from a vent there is a problem that needs to be fixed. I have never used anything in my tanks except water and no, there is no odor in my RV and no, I am not just used to it.
Nope.
When you flush the toilet and open that blade it IS open directly to the tank. If you have a rank black tank and/or full and no chems it will smell.
Albeit I never ran into that RV'ing in the Midwest.
EXCEPT....once I started going to Florida, one has to be prudent with chems especially if you aren't' hooked up to sewer and you wait until full to break camp to dump and that was with chems.
Florida, sweltering heat, full tank = smell coming up when you flush if you are not quick on the draw with the flush pedal and add water asap to bowl.
Definite learning curve when you change to a region of the country you are not familiar with. Once I hit Florida "2" bottles of chems go into black tank to rectify that problem.:C
