Surge Protector
Is it necessary to have a surge protector? I've had several people say as long as you're in a good park you should be okay.

For security it does have that metal ring thinghy, visible on the cable with the plug, which a bike cable lock or something can be run through.
At most CGs I don't worry much. Think of all the stuff we leave outside anyhow. how about tenters? Everything they own is there for the taking. I did engrave the case of mine with a soldering iron. No removing that mark. At most CGs there are almost always eyes looking.
