Before I purchased a PI 30 amp portable, I tried the other brand that doesn't have the metal lock-loop installed (it didn't last 4 hours in a light rain). Thier idea was to use a plastic box to secure their brand of surge protector to a camp ground pedestal. I didn't like that, so off to Home Depot.
A little bit of swing-set style chain, a bicycle innertube and a conduit clip available in the electrical aisle. You could use one-way head screws to bolt it together if you wanted an added measure of security above a regular bolt head. Instead of the conduit clamp, a couple of "two-hole straps" (sized appropriatly for the SP's cable) bolted together around the surge protector's cable would work, too. If nothing else, it has a good intimidation factor, so, hopefully, the would-be Artful Dodger moves on to an easier target.
I took this assembly off the previous brand's unit before I returned it to Camper World for a full refund. The return was easy, so I'm happy with that.
