The big downside of buying used is if there is unknown water issues. Sometimes even the original owner does not know about it. When you buy used, you MUST examine the trailer (or have a qualified inspector do it) very carefully. If there is any sign of water damage, even minor, it is likely much worse than it looks.
I agree 100%. I looked for a long time for signs of water leaks. I liked the fact that it had the original rubber roof on and there were no signs of "cover up" damage.
In any event this is a beginners forum so please take heed and listen to DanNJanice advice because it's VERY good advice!
