I wouldn't rely on a homeowners policy, they usually only cover things basic to the house and property. there normal response is your car, boat, travel trailer, motorcycle and so on should have its own insurance.

A stolen TT equipped with a hitch lock was recovered near our vacation cottage a couple of years ago with the lock still installed. The thief admitted that all he did was hook up the safety chains and haul the trailer away in broad daylight. The only damage was to the tongue jack from repeatedly hitting the truck's bumper.

OP here... I've been searching for some way to track stuff. Can't seem to find any service that I can track multiple stuff for decent price. Same house since mid 70's. Last couple years lost generator and junky tool box and tank of gas and other odds and ends.

HOw about a GPS tracking device. IE a smart phone hooked to an on board charger, God for like 12 to 30 hours of tracking with the proper apps installed.

Won't stop 'em from taking it.. but might get it back for your. and as a bonus get them some free rides, and meals, and lodging. not that they will care for the lodging. (or the nutraloaf).

A case-hardened chain & lock will deter a set of bolt cutters. But a cheap-a## cordless HF cut-off saw is hard to stop.

If you have the choice, a decent way to slow down a thief is to leave the trailer with the tongue pointing towards and close to your house or a wall. It's a lot harder to steal a trailer when you can't maneuver a vehicle to get the ball under the coupler.

There are videos on the net showing how those yellow balls are easy to pick. There are better looking ones available. A chain and padlock thru the wheels would also be easy off with a large bolt cutter. Either would probably deter a casual theif. But a good wheel lock would probably be the most secure.

Normal precautions and insurance.

Or a piece of chain run through the wheel spokes & padlocked.
