Gotta go with the truck and tt crowd. Self contained motorized rig sucks unless you are towing a car. Every time you want to leave camp,you have to break everything down and secure the coffee pot.
Being young you are going to want to check out a bar or a local band or girls or boys. Most girls I have met would be extremely hesitant about leaving a bar with a guy that has a motorhome parked out front.A truck is several notches up on the automobile hierarchy You could find a used midsize truck and a 17 or 19 foot trailer for a good bit less than 20k even if you need tires all the way around. With a halfton towing 5k I figure 10MPG as a rule of thumb.
As was mentioned when you are done the trailer will make a good guest house if permitted where you live. Unless you totally trash it some money is always recoverable on the trailer.
