My daughter was a little over a month old when we took her camping the first time. The bride's parents had just purchased their first camper in late November... HAD to take it out once before the winter. We tagged along. IT was chilly, but manageable.
Fast forward to 6 months and we started back up. Took her all the way to about 15 months old and we went to Florida for 2 weeks.
We've learned that a pack and play fits great on the dinette bed. The leftover room is perfect for the dog cage. A nice tow behind trailer for the bike keeps her entertained and lets mom and dad get some exercise and enjoy the sights wherever we go. Keep an eye on the little one in the camper, there is NOTHING that is child safe about it!
Keep an eye on them while you are outside. My daughter loves to run around, so we go on lots of walks with her. The dogs LOVE this side effect...
We are headed out to the lake for Memorial day weekend with a soon to be 19.5 month old. Be patient and have fun. This could set the ground work for a life long passion for the outdoors and camping. I still have great memories of going camping when I was a kid. I hope my daughter enjoys it as much as I did!
