Towing a Vehicle

I'm a newbie and have tried searching but will ask right out. I have a 1997 Ford Ranger, single cab, 7 foot bed, 4WD that I would like to tow behind my 1990 Tioga 25'. I had the Electric Hubs go out on me several years back and now have manually locking hubs. You switch on to 4WD and then get out and turn and lock the hubs.

How do I do it? Flat? On a dolly? Do I need to disconnect drive shaft(s)?

I admit I know nothing about towing...

    I towed a 95 Ranger ext. cab 4X4 Auto Trans using a Remco driveshaft disconnect for several years. I sold the Ranger and still have the driveshaft disconnect that I will sell. I unlocked the manual front wheel hubs, disengaged the 4X4 Transfer Case and put Auto Trans in Park.

    Standard Trans is different.

    The real issue with the Ranger is the transmission. The Auto Trans needs a driveshaft disconnect.

    First of all, I would read the manual for your truck. It does address 4 down towing. I believe that a Ford Ranger 4wdr with manual tranny can be towed if you do certain things with the hubs, tranny and 4wd selector. However, I am not sure, so I recommend reading the manual. If you don't have a manual, you should be able to read one on line, or go to your Ford dealer and query a 4wd mechanic.
    I have a '11 Ranger with manual tranny, 2wd drive and tow it successfully behind my MH. Love it.
