You might wait for the 2015 F150 ratings and make your decision then. Apparently the 2.7 ecoboost will have a payload rating of 2250 lbs and a tow rating of 8500. The cougar has a gross weight of around 8100lbs, from what I can see, which still puts you over the limit once you add everyone and everything that you take camping (ignore the 6300lbs "dry" weight--work with the GROSS weight). However, if the 3.5 Ecoboost or the V8 have at least the same payload rating, and a higher tow rating, they may work for you. I don't believe Ford has released those numbers yet??
So your sayin the 2.7 "might" be able to do it:@ Would love to get that engine simply for the fuel savings...but realize I may have to go with the 3.5.
