My aunt and uncle towed a 3000 lb TT all over Europe for over 20 years with relatively small vehicles. Their first was a 1.5-liter Austin Cambridge (50 horsepower on a good day), then they got a FWD Austin Princess (2 liters, 80 HP). Eventually they got a early model Range Rover. All except the Rover were manual transmissions.
