A TPMS will not help you in a blowout! Once it has blown it is to late for the sytem to help you. If you watch your setup and check your tires routinely during a trip it is not necessary. The problem nowadays is none actually knows how to drive. They just get in turn the key and go. That's why those of us that know how to operate a vehicle are upset when we are stuck/forced to have these idiot proofed systems in our cars/trucks!
Again very poor reasoning. If a tire goes low/flat while you are driving and you continue to drive unknowingly, eventually that tire is going to come apart. And you are not likely to know when one tire goes low during a long drive.
The TPMS systems do not require you to constantly monitor them. A low tire or "rapid leak" generates an alarm so you know it immediately allowing you to get off the road before more damage is done.
