traveling with cats

I must have done it all wrong.
One of our traveling cats died on the way from Michigan to Maine.
We came back with a Maine Coastal Beach Panther (Black shorthair).
He found us so looked no further.

I found this to be so true.

We travel with 3 cats and 2 labrador retrievers. We crate the cats in our truck and when we stop for a break, bring them into the trailer. They mostly sleep, like they do at home. They love it. The dogs love it. The kids love it. It works for us

Thanks. The Maine Coon came with my wife when he was one year old. He taught this dog guy a thing or two about cats.

I have had a few cats but one great one. She was a Maine Coon cat. She died 6 years ago. It might sound funny to some but I miss that cat. Sorry about yours.

We have 2 cats, one is a tortie mix 16 years old one is a 2.5 y.o. Maine coon 18 lbs. worth. They travel in our truck with us. I set up the back seat by covering the seats with blankets and the floor with a waterproof mattress pad in case of accidents and litter box on one side. I have a double cab Sierra and use a corner triangle shaped litter box that fits fine. We still have to stop and take care of any deposits as quickly as we can.

It takes them both a little while to settle in and get over any anxiety and both have barffed and blew hairballs. They're cats. We tried drugging the Maine Coon and its not a good solution over just letting them adjust. They do finally settle in.


In the trailer their litter box is under the bed in the blanket box storage area. It works and its out of the way eventhough we have had to get up in the middle of the night to take care of those deposits. You do what you have to do for the fur babies. Our cats travel fairly well and settle in fine when we are parked. It is do-able with some effort on our part as their humans.

That's exactly what I'm afraid is my living area slide, I could just see one of my cats getting in there. Someone suggested a larger crate with litter box, but I don't have the space for it. Also I did think about putting them in the bedroom area but I can't put a litter box in the bathroom because we have a tub and my older cat can't jump over in the tub.
