Why drain the water heater. It is only about 80 pounds at the most. That is really not worth worring about it. . .
The amount of gas is significantly changed by going 5 MPH faster, or carry another 10% in weight. 10% weight in my case is about 1,600 pounds.. .
You are talking about 0.5% weight if you have a 10 gallon water heater or much less if you only have a 6 gallon water heater.
