Has anyone used the USPS Premium Forwarding Service?
Yes we've used it. It is fairly expensive (for two weeks the total tab is about $50) and has some restrictions. The main issue is that you may forward only to one post office or other address. So, if you are going to several destinations over a period of time, that is not very helpful. At my post office, however, they will make a special accommodation to manually forward the mail to different post offices. My guess is that that accommodation is unusual. Allow more time for the mail to be forwarded to a post office than you are told is necessary as sometimes delays occur. Another issue is that some of the post offices you forward to are not especially helpful dealing with "General Delivery" mail; sometimes they just do not want to look for your mail, and tell you it is not there. We have had such problems at medium sized post offices in medium sized cities, but the post offices in small towns have always been helpful. Also, it may be hard to find someone at your post office who can explain the system to you- it seems like it is not often used.
